I made this transfer during my first year of art school in 2003. It was in a box of old prints I found the other night.

I shot this slide on a Pentax K1000, and then used a daylab slide printer to transfer the slide to Polaroid 669 film. There's no doubt that I took for granted how cool this process was at the time.

Last fall i got a call from a friend offering up a box of old camera gear. A relative had passed away and he was given a box of old equipment. It turned out to be a gold mine. Included was a Kodak medium format camera, Ilford sport-master, and a full minolta 35-mm kit with 3 lenses. They all look amazing collecting dust on my bookshelf.

Tucked away in one of the leather camera bags was a photo of some dude and his lady wearing a "#9 - Paper Bag" on her head.

Ultra weird...

The Bike Mag "Bible"

Here are a couple of pics from Bike Mags most recent issue. Its their inaugural gear guide dubbed The Bible of Bike Tests. I was up there for a month working with the crew, and by default a few pics of myself ended up in final product. In addition to writing some of the bike and product reviews, I was able to land the back page Sh*t Bike feature. The issue is on news stands now!

I woke up today to find my Boston Terrier Ruby featured in the Dog Town column on Vancouver is Awesome. Not only was she featured on the front page, but was hovering right below an interview with Michael J. Fox and above a Jeff Wall photo. Amazing!

Scott Harrison has been tattooing since 1990 working all over the United States as well as Mexico, England and Japan. Currently his unique brand of traditional American style tattoos can be found at Atlas Tattoo in Portland, Oregon. Not only an accomplished tattooer Scott holds a B.A., a B.F.A. and an M.F.A. and taught cartooning and illustration at the School of Visual Arts in New York. Harrison's self described "mysteriously successful" website headbandbrothers.com is home to one of the most captivatingly strange videos I have ever watched.

Blowguns, Beach Whistles and the True Definition of Powerlessness is a video project produced by Harrison in 2005. The project documents the best stories of a select group of tattooers. Describing these stories as raw would be an understatement.

Not at home

I haven't updated in ages. Since August I really haven't been at home at all. I've been traveling lots over the past few months. Most recently I spent 5 weeks in Japan shooting photos and exploring the country. I was only home for a week or so before I had to leave for Whistler where I am now. Gonna be here till mid November, but once Im home in December there are gonna be lots of updates to my website.

Next week is the Right on Track art show in Calgary.

Nine artists have donated their talent and time to paint 10, one of a kind rideable track bike frames, which will be, auctioned off on May 14, 2009 at Bamboo Lounge (Drum and Monkey) 1201-1 St. SW.

All frames will start at $450. Profit from the auction will go to Right to Play, an international humanitarian organization that uses sport and play programs to improve health, develop life skills, and foster peace for children and communities in some of the most disadvantaged areas of the world. Working in both the humanitarian and development context, Right To Play trains local community leaders as Coaches to deliver its programs in countries affected by war, poverty, and disease in Africa, Asia, the Middle East, and South America. Stoked Sessions LA

with only two weeks until I go back to Canada, I am finding there are not enough hours in the day. I raced a 12 hour MTB race a few weekends ago in Temecula, CA. I was riding the sunset lap for my team. It was surreal. I was able to shoot some photos for a potential story in the next volume for BIKE. Not too sure if the story will get picked up, but I was happy with how the images turned out.

Last weekend I was in San Francisco again for American Thanksgiving. Love that city. I have nothing but good things to say about it. I could live there in a heart beat. Seeing how steep some of those streets are, and then realizing your gonna bomb down them on your BMX with your buddy who rides brakeless was one for the books for sure.

This weekend I am at camp Woodward for a bike event. I plan on shooting enough film to make me broke.

Saw the Kings play the Ducks tonight at the staples center. So good to see a hockey game again. The whole arena booed Pronger every time he touched the puck.... he deserves it for abandoning Edmonton. From my position in the upper deck I tried to envision a young Kelly Hrudey guarding the net, but then reality sunk in, no Hrudey, and the Kings lost.

Jeff Harris

Toronto-based photographer Jeff Harris is engaged in an ongoing project: he's had his picture taken - either as a self-portrait or by a friend - every day since January 1, 1999.

I think this project is really amazing. I was introduced to the project in a class at art school almost three years ago. Its still going strong. It makes me wonder what will constitute the end of this project. Perhaps death.

Be sure to read the journal section on the site. People coment about something that they did, or were thinking about that day. It is displayed next to the corrisponding Jeff Harris photo from that day. The coments are incredibly candid.

On the weekend I was in Joshua Tree National Park. The landscape there is epic with massive rocks just appearing out of nowhere the moment you enter the park. It is completely awe inspiring. All the campsites near the most popular climbing spots were full and we had to drive 50 miles past the gates to find a camping spot that was open. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise because we ended up driving through the entire park over the two days. Even within the boundaries of the park the landscape changes dramatically. I shot almost exclusively on my Bronica 6x6 camera, but I did manage to get a few digital shots during the trip.

There was a poolside party in downtown San Francisco the night before the event. All the media and athleates were there. Somehow we scored the best parking spot outside the bar and were able to show off Joaqiun. Again, we got after it, late into the night.
